Pony Express News

Well, It’s nearly Winter and that can mean only one thing – The beginning of the Pony express series for another year.  These events proved hugely popular last year with good rider turnouts and some fantastic venues.  This year promises more of the same.  Track locations for this season have been selected to provide a good mix of riding conditions, with terrain to suit all levels of rider - So look forward to some fantastic riding.  The first round of the Pony Express season is to kick off on June 1st at Mt Bolton.  This is a great all weather track composed mainly of granite sand and will combine some winding tree’d sections with some open natural terrain on the side of the mountainshould be great!  Remaining dates for the season are July 20, August 31and October 26.  The venue for the second round will be confirmed at the trophy presentations after the first round.

Keep an eye on the website (www.ballaratroversmcc.com.au) for any changes.

There have been some changes for the running of the Pony expresses this year.

Firstly: We now have a Pony Express organising committee this year, with a more people putting their hand up to help out with the organising of the events.  This should help spread the workload a bit and make the organising the events a little less stressful.  Hats off to Daryl Turner and Andrew Flood for their efforts last year - Its only when you start giving a hand that you realise what a huge effort they managed to complete last year.  Well Done guys!

Secondly:  There have been changes to the numbering system (see below) this is to help make things easier for the lap scorers and to help eliminate some of the confusion about classes.  You will also notice that there have also been some changes to the classes, with several riders moving up a class.  Senior riders that competed last year have been issued bike numbers for the new season (see attached sheet). Junior and Father/son riders can use numbers from last season.  If anyone requires a new bike number or have any queries regarding entries please call Rob Fisher on 0438 313 965.

There will be a Working Bee on Saturday May 31st at Mt Bolton (day before the race) to mark out the track.  It would be appreciated if anyone has the time and can help out. Remember that “races don’t run themselves” so lending a hand will help make the preparation and running of the event easier and more fun it is for everyone. Any enquiries please call Andrew Flood on 0418 993 680.
